Before You Launch Your PPC Ads: These are my Top Tips to Consider for Success.

Having worked with numerous businesses and brands as a social media marketer, I've discovered that a carefully crafted advertising strategy alone does not ensure success. While I believe that our efforts can significantly enhance a business's performance, the reality is that advertising is just one element in a larger ecosystem of factors that contribute to success. While it may be a more significant factor for e-commerce brands than service-based businesses, even e-commerce brands require more than just a well-thought-out ad strategy to thrive.

In this article, I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions on creating a comprehensive pre-ad strategy that ensures the effectiveness of the ads before they are even launched.

Establish a brand identity that centers around a single, prominent selling point

We are all aware of the significance of having a strong branding strategy, but what does it entail? In my opinion, a brand should have one distinct selling point that sets it apart from the competition. While having more is admirable, it is essential to concentrate on one to improve your competitive edge. To capture the audience's attention, it is critical to communicate this unique selling point effectively.

This is where social media and SEO come in. However, rather than relying solely on social media or Google ads, it is advisable to invest in a website and create organic content that showcases the message of the brand.

To succeed in your (online) business, you must create a consistent stream of valuable content that reaches your audience across all platforms.

Know your audience

Next tip: Understanding your audience. Which may seem obvious, but it is not always consistent. Having worked in this industry for three years, I have noticed that many businesses have a general idea of their audience's demographics, such as age, gender, and hobbies, but often forget an essential factor: behavior. The key question, in this case, is not what but why.

Why are they coming to you? What motivates them to purchase from you? Answering these questions can unlock many opportunities for your current marketing and communication strategies. Understanding your audience's language and thought process when they consider buying from you can help you relate to them and make them feel understood.

Set your goal

It is crucial to never lose sight of your goal, as it is the one thing that you will constantly refer to. Whether your objective is to increase newsletter sign-ups or generate revenue of €100.000 by year-end, it is essential to stay focused on this goal and continually optimize your plan as you go along.

In the digital marketing industry, it is easy to become sidetracked by the numerous optimization possibilities available. However, maintaining consistency is vital. With each implementation, ask yourself, "Will this contribute to achieving my goal?" If the answer is no, then it is time to re-implement your strategy.

Budget

The amount of capital required to run successful ads varies depending on the size of your business. However, to begin running ads successfully, it is crucial to have a sufficient budget. In my experience, I have never witnessed or heard of an advertiser achieving success by spending just €5 a day. Although it may seem superficial, in a world where brands are spending thousands of euros a day, it can be challenging to stand out and reach your full potential in the ever-evolving algorithms of social media. Simply put, low budgets will not get you far. As my coach once said to me, starting with such a budget is setting yourself up for failure, and I strongly believe this.

It is advisable to allocate between 5% to 10% of your total sales, depending on the price of your products or services, to start seeing growth.

The PPC industry is constantly evolving, and it's important for businesses to establish a solid foundation on these platforms. Our responsibility is to stay abreast of the ever-changing PPC landscape and apply the best strategies to meet your unique business requirements.
